Xhevat Hulaj, the Head of Diaspora Registry Division is satisfied with the current rate of registration. There is a growing number of people requesting forms and completing the online procedures, thus it could be concluded that the process itself has been positively valued by the diaspora.
The actual number of the registered members shall be public by the end of the year.”The process of registration so far has been very good, also the community seems to be very interested in part taking, There have been no issues reported so far since the database is operational 24/7″ claimed Mr. Hulaj. In order to give actual numbers, Mr. Hulaj explained that once the information should be processed and verified.
Mr. Hulaj went on to explain how a part of the action will be set during the summer with physical forms where diaspora members will have the chance to fill them in while visiting their families. Every municipality is expected to have an individual officer assigned at working with the process and administering the flow. “Each municipality in Kosovo will have representatives from the Ministry of Diaspora , whom will be trained and prepared as well as have a separate office where the registration process will take place” -Hulaj. Furthermore, the Ministry of Diaspora has already distributed forms throughout the Kosovan consulates and embassies as well as border crossing points. Mr.Hulaj continues to explain how a close cooperation with the various diaspora organizations has contributed to the wide spread of the process and informing the members.
The database is seen as an essential step on understanding and engaging the diaspora with the activities of the Kosovar Government.
